Gualchos which is located at an altitude of about 300 meters above sea level and 6 km northwest of the coastal road N-340 on the southern slope of the Sierra de Lújar with a highest peak of 1,878 meters above sea level, and Castell de Ferro which is located by the sea and was one of the first tourist resorts on the coast, forming a link between mountains and the sea with a coast of 7 km with fine beaches. These are old towns with a 3,000-year history, which have emerged because remains of settlements have been found. There are also remains from the Moorish period with the old fortification Castell de Ferro, which is the first to be seen because it is located on a 90 meter high mountain and was a perfect place for protection and guarding in the past.

Castell de Ferro, one of the first tourist resorts on the coast of Granada. Of particular interest is the Islamic castle, which for centuries dominated the beach.

-archaeological remains and the Tower of La Rijana in Castell de Ferro

Read more about the great caves Las Campanas de Gualchos and pay a visit.

In the municipality, time stands still and with its subtropical climate, everything you need is grown. Agriculture employs many. In addition, you have access to fish. The advantage of having so many small villages with only a few houses is that most people are close to their farms.

The tourism business is also large and it causes the population to triple in the summertime. The beach is nice as in so many other places.
