Motril is the largest city on the Costa Tropical and here is the large Hospital Ana. Here you will also find Policia Nacional and other authorities, a number of car repair shops, the Al Campo shopping center and more. Motril was previously the center of cane sugar production. Now there is only one museum. The town hall dates from 1631.
The large plain of Llanos de Carchuna is fertile and has large crops.

Carchuna
Carchuna is located by the sea but is a little different from other cities on the coast. You go more or less in a greenhouse, but have the advantage that you can go by car to the beach, basically to the next town, Calahonda, on sand. Many people do not think it is nice with all these greenhouses in plastic, but it is more important that the growers get good harvests. Here is the modern church Iglesia de la Purisima. Carchuna’s saint is the Virgen de Los Llanos.

El Varadero
El Varadero is the coast and port of Motril, where the ferry company Armas, runs to Melilla, the Spanish enclave in Morocco, Africa. The port is the only port on the Costa Tropical with large fishing boats. Cruise ships have also arrived and added, so that passengers can see the Alhambra and Almunécar. This is the straightest way for all of Europe to bring vehicles to Africa.
Next to the harbor is the only golf course on the Costa Tropical, Los Moriscos, http://www.moriscosgolf.com/
