Population of about 800 inhabitants called Jeteños
Jete is located just 9 km north of Almuñécar and south of the Sierra de Almijara Mountains, and on the Rio Verde River which forms a valley, the Valle Tropical, the tropical valley. There are excellent hiking trails here and Jete is best known for its fantastic Calvente wines that are known throughout Spain. You can also fill your water bottles with fresh mountain water at a natural spring. Higher up in the mountains there are nice hiking trails.
The saint is called La Virgen de Bodijar and is celebrated January 1-3.
