Almuñécar, where is the perimeter?
Perimeter confinement, is a new concept which we have come to know here in Spain over the past year. During the current Coronavirus pandemic, the mening of the word “perimeter” refers to the municipal border.
Perimeter confinement can also apply to a provincial boundary, e.g. the province of Granada, or for a regional border, e.g. Andalusia.
But, where is the perimeter of Almuñécar?
Since we are not allowed to cross the municipal border without a valid reason, it is vital to keep track of where the border is. Can I for example go from Almuñécar to La Herradura? The answer is: YES, La Herradura is a part of Almuñécar and is thus within the same municipal boundary.
Almuñécar is in the Province of Granada and is bordered to the west/northwest by the municipality of Nerja, which is in the province of Málaga. So, in addition to a municipal border, there is also a provincial border in that direction. Almuñécar is also bordered by the following municipalities in the Province of Granada, and the Mediterranean Sea.
The border between Salobreña and Almuñécar (on road N340)
The border between Nerja/Málaga province and Almuñécar (on road N340)
The border between Jete and Almuñécar (Road A4050)
What is the size of Almuñécar?
Almuñécar has a surface of 83.31 km² and if you would like to take a hike around the entire Almuñécar municipal border, it is 54 260 meters long, i.e. 54 kilometres, of which the coastal stretch towards the Mediterranean is 19 km long.
